Advice from homeschooling mums with babies

Asalaamu alaikum,

I'm not sure if many read this particular blog of mine but...

I was wondering if any mums out there have any advice on how to take care of a newborn, look after a toddler and homeschool a preschooler at the same time? I know it can be done with a lot of patience and heaps of hard work but is there anything specific that helped you along the way?

assalamu alaikum Tasmiya!!

I didn't know that you had this blog. I saw it on your other page but never clicked on it. Well I'm glad I discovered it.

So... congratulations on your impending arrival inshallah!! It looks like you'll be one busy bee (more than you already are that is).

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice in this regard since when considering this situation for myself the only thing I could come up with was, don't *be* in such a situation in the first place ;)..... or.... you could move in with your in-laws, hire a maid, and similar things.

Best of luck! Let us now how everything goes and remember sis, Allah the Most High does not burden a soul with more than it can bear.

try emailing UmmZaynab (from 'Islamic Parenting') when she gets back from her sojourn. She home-schools her 5 YO, has a 3YO and an infant, so she'd probably be a wealth of information.

And a hearty congrats and mabrooks on the upcoming arrival!

Walaikum asalaam wa rahmatullah,

Thank you both for your well wishes. Umm Hamza - Hiring a maid sounds very appealing though not sure if our budget allows for it. I'm hoping in the next 6 months, my eldest will miraculously start cleaning up after the younger ones as well as himself. Make dua! Hehe.

The mysterious sister S from Melbourne. :) Do you still have your blog? I'd love to read it if it's still online. You know, I might just email UmmZaynab when she gets back inshaallah.

hahahaha- nah, i took it down when the stupid X-sectarian (prefer not to name them specifically, but think a really over-the-top, strict, literal, intolerant, and fire-and-brimstone approach to Islam funded by a certain govt in charge of two important islamic cities...) people kept bombarding my blog with NASTY comments. They made it clear they hated my guts because I preferred an egalitarian, intellectual and spiritual approach to Islam. My good friend maryam (dervishes dua blog) encouraged me to continue on, because taking my blog down is a "win" for them (and I agree), but to be honest, I just got really tired of that sick feeling everytime I opened my blog to see what new and cruel comments had been left. Maybe I'm soft, but I thought it was doing more harm than good. So I bailed and pulled down the blog.

LOL- sorry- that's a bit long-winded!! So, anyways, now I just prowl around other people's blogs and vicariously enjoy their postings instead.

Love wasalaams,
S. in Melb. (PS- send some of your Brisb sunsihne to us- it's getting FREEZING down here!)

I'm just now getting to this but I'll have to address that another time because I'm still away from home and getting ready to travel again now. All I can say is that it's HARD HARD HARD and I wish I had a babysitter. Generally speaking these days we do not get through a homeschooling session without Baby (who is now 21 months) screaming her head off and I have had to lower my expectations on what hs stuff we get done, but with WTM thankfully it's not a big deal the way the program is structured. The good news is that my parents are moving to our city so inshaa Allah maybe I can get some help that way.

Hiya Tasmiya, I was searching around for info on how to start a home based business. I found your blog.

I was reading your post and believe it or not it’s helped me. Every tip I get helps, even if its just new phrases I have never used before, its helps me be a better mentor. This is my business link - home based business - check it out and see what you think.

Anyways Tasmiya, you have a good site. I'll be back.

Hey Tasmiya, you have a great blog here. this post caught my eye and I thought I would put a post on it. I'm looking for help.

The site I have is a work from home site. Its all about, need I say it, working from home. I think people should have the choice to build their own income instead of somebody else’s. Freedom of well being and all of that...anyway I was on your site looking for ways to help my business. I'm really looking for ways of building better rapport between recruits.

Anyways Tasmiya thanks for the great blog. I'll just have to carry on my search till I find what I'm looking for. Take care.
